Italy’s Carabinieri has received their first of 20 Leonardo AW119Kx helicopters and the sixth AW169M. The service has modernized its helicopter fleet to replace older models and carry out patrol and reconnaissance tasks, investigation evidence gathering, and support for ground units. The new fleet will also handle environment monitoring, protection, firefighting, and rescue missions. The AW169M helicopters have been configured with special equipment for various mission systems and to integrate new technology. The Carabinieri took delivery of the AW169M on Jan. 19, 2024. This update is expected to enhance the service’s capabilities in a wide range of operational tasks.

Designated as s/n 15501, this incredible aircraft, carrying experimental registration CSX 82103 and codes CC-61, represents the first of 20 Koala helicopters built for the military police after their order in October 2022.
Did you know? The AW119Kx is part of the modernization of the Carabinieri’s helicopter fleet, aimed at replacing the AW109N and AB412 helicopters with cutting-edge models such as the AW139 and AW169M.
