Hyundai’s advanced air mobility subsidiary, Supernal, has introduced its S-A2 electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) air taxi concept at the Consumer Electronics Show. The eVTOL, aimed at operating on zero-emission air taxi routes in cities, will begin commercial aviation safety level certification in 2026. Supernal has partnered with Korean Air to launch operations in South Korea and aims to bring electric air taxi services to Los Angeles and Miami in 2028. The company also emphasized the safety and affordability of its air taxi services, incorporating Hyundai’s automotive designs and engineering capabilities into the aircraft. Supernal’s S-A2 will operate quietly on short-range trips, and will feature passenger-friendly, human-centric design and flexibility for upgrades.
